After loosing the first t20 match against Ireland, Papua New Guinea is hoping to bounce back in cricket’s shortest format. The Barramundis were outclassed by 146 runs against Ireland in a four-day game in Townsville last week, but have won the past two T20 matches against the men in green. Their last encounter was at the World Twenty20 Qualifier in Ireland last year, where PNG prevailed by two wickets but narrowly missed out on a spot at the T20 World Cup. Barramundis coach Dipak Patel says Twenty20 is PNG’s favourite form of the game and they’re looking forward to the challenge of three matches against a team ranked 15th in the world. This format of T20 cricket comes a lot more natural to our players – they really enjoy the format as well. It’s good for them for their preparation for the World Cup and we would have obviously thrived on the opportunity of playing in the World Cup ourselves. It’s a good opportunity for our players to play against the top-ranked team in T20 competitions in the second tier so it should be a thrilling three games I would think. The first T20 International is today in Townsville, with the remaining games on Sunday and Tuesday.
2nd T20 PNG vs Ireland Match Prediction Who Will Win 7 Feb 2016
PNG will win the toss and chose to bat first and win the match as well.
Gary Wilson blasted six sixes in a top score of 45 as Ireland cruised to a five-wicket T20 win over Papua New Guinea in Townsville on Saturday. Craig Young, Andy McBrine and Kevin O’Brien each took two wickets as PNG managed just 92-9 in their 20 overs. Ireland were 30-3 before a stand of 53 between Wilson and Kevin O’Brien (19) helped them to 97-5 in just 12.1 overs. It was the first in a three-game T20 series between the sides, with matches on Sunday and Tuesday to follow. Wilson scored his 45 off 33 balls in the one-side affair in Australia.
“It felt good when I was out there – I’ve been hitting the ball nicely so hopefully I can continue that form for the rest of the tour and beyond,” Wilson told Cricket Ireland. “It was a comfortable chase in the end, even though we lost a couple more wickets than we should have at the end of the innings. “The bowlers set the tone very well, hitting the deck hard. The pitch was a little two-paced, so getting them for a low score was key.”
